Abraham weSera Association (ASA) is an endogenous, non-profit, non governmental organization established in 1993 E.C. and registered with Ethiopia’s Civil Society Organizations Authority (Reg. No. 0491). The association is committed to promoting sustainable, knowledge-based community development by empowering youth and women through education, practical skills, and purposeful guidance.
General Objective
To foster community development through short-term training programs designed to equip the future generation with valuable knowledge and practical skills. These initiatives help individuals advance socially and economically, benefiting both themselves and the broader community. Guided by the belief that the family is the foundation of society, the association works to strengthen family welfare and contribute to Ethiopia’s social and economic progress in partnership with educational institutions, civil society organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

Our Projects
Major Training Areas
1: Technology & Digital Skills
This category focused on equipping students with essential digital competencies. They were trained in Basic IT skills, Website Design, Programming in Python for Highschool students and Scratch for Elementary Students. In addition, students learned Basic Internet Usage, explored Graphic Design, and gained hands-on experience with 3D modeling and design.
2: Engineering, Science & Innovation
Here, students were introduced to fundamental scientific and engineering concepts. They explored basic space science and astronomy, learned about electronics maintenance such as repairing radios, TVs, and PCs, and practiced basic electrical installations. This includes MIoT a dynamic project under ASA designed to inspire high school and university students to explore the fields of the Internet of Things (IoT), automation, and robotics. The program also emphasized developing an engineering mindset to nurture problem-solving and innovation.
3: Entrepreneurship & Career Development
This area aimed at preparing students for future career paths and self-reliance. They engaged in entrepreneurship training, explored marketing strategies, and built essential life skills while focusing on personal development.
4: Communication & Global Awareness
To strengthen global outlook and communication skills, students were trained in spoken English and took part in the “Know your globe” initiative, which encouraged cultural awareness and global knowledge.



What have we Done So Far?
These are the major achievements we have so far: we reached 14 government schools and provided training in fields like website development, IT literacy, digital media, and MIoT – automation and robotics. A total of 3,770 students gained practical skills, and 190 high school teachers received advanced digital training in tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and AI.
ASA Activities: Career Day
In parenership with the Addis Ababa University, these events bring professionals from diverse fields together to enlighten students about their workplaces, roles, and the educational journey required for success. Career days are meticulously designed to help students bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications. Through engaging with speakers and exploring the event independently, students gain insights into different industries, career options, and the significance of education in shaping their future careers.
The event drew the participation of 500 participants from various secondary and elementary schools A total of 19 professions, representing both social and natural sciences, were featured during the career day. These professionals, recognized for their success in their respective fields, demonstrated a keen ability to articulate and inform students about the nuances of their professions. They provided valuable perspectives on what is required for success and offered insights into the expectations and potential rewards of pursuing a career in their particular field.
